Volare

I flew. I flew a kite. Up and away. It was a beautiful day. My husband bought me one of those trick kites with two handles. I had forgotten how much fun it is to fly a kite, and even more so when you can control it. I must have flown it for a good 2 hours and I would have flown more had my husband asked if we could go home. The sun was shining, the wind was stiff but cool but that didn't stop the sun bathers. There were a few of them out, soaking up the sun. There were even some of those kiteboarders learning to control their huge kites. If you have never seen the sport, check it out on the internet. Very spectacular. Maybe I will beable to fly again today! I can't wait for another breeze to blow in off the sea.

Well it has been some time since my last entry. If you ever want to experience Nettuno (or Italy for that matter) in its most serene state, wake up early on Easter Sunday. Smell the air. Hear the silence. It is so peaceful and beautiful. I woke up this morning and needed to hang some laundry outside. The air was crisp with just a little humidity. It felt as though everyone was still in bed, as there were no people in the streets, no cars buzzing about and no church bells ringing. It was only 8 a.m., normally there is quite a bustle at that time as people are trying to get to work, or get kids off to school or on Sundays going to church or the store for milk. But this Sunday morning seems so serene. The way Italy should be every day. Back home in Okotoks, it was this way everyday. I really miss the quiet.
